Challenge – Climb Carrauntoohil Training

Training for our Climb!

Preparation is essential to increase the potential for success of any trip. Including making sure you have a good level of physical fitness before you take off. The only way to do that is to train appropriately and regularly.

Creating a training schedule:

Our Carrauntoohil Climb will be a strenuous day hike to a mountain summit.

Many people with an average fitness level should be able to complete this day hike. But don’t think this won’t be a challenge!

People living active lives will be more comfortable with several hours of physical exercise, so if you don’t walk a lot, start by making it a habit to get out and about. Giving your legs some daily exercise for a few weeks should set you up for a successful day hike.

The surface on the day will be uneven, and you should have a good head for heights.

Simple Tips!

If you are a member of a Gym, use that membership, it is a great place to condition your body and improve both strength and stamina.

You need to start hiking. If you’re not used to hiking, you should start by going for long walks in the park or another safe area near your home or workplace.

After your feet and legs have become used to walking for a few hours, continue by doing hikes with a small backpack.

By doing so, you allow your body to get accustomed to the weight it will have to carry during your actual hiking trip.

You should incorporate extra exercise into your daily routine. Take the stairs instead of the lift, walk to the shops instead of driving if you can.

Happy Climbing!
