We've had lots of fun in previous years supporting cyclists who join to raise funds by cycling the Ring of Kerry to fund cancer research!

Join Team Breakthrough and take on the challenge of cycling 170km on one of Ireland’s most iconic routes through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world while helping to raise much needed funds for cancer research.

Thanks to the generous support of the public and the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle we have invested millions in cancer research, funding the development of new diagnostics and treatments for cancer which has already led to 8 new treatments progressing to clinical trial. We are currently supporting over 165 researchers across the island of Ireland through public fundraising, support and generosity.

Why Fundraise?

  • Funds raised will specifically support two exciting new projects in ovarian and pancreatic cancers. Both of these cancers are difficult to diagnose and hard to treat so advances and breakthroughs are urgently needed.
  • You will be funding life-saving and life-changing cancer research right here in Ireland.
  • Every cent you raise will contribute directly to supporting our mission: making more survivors of cancer through research.
  • You will have the opportunity to take tangible action and make a real difference, showing how coming together can help create a better future for everyone.

Quote from a cyclist in a previous Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle: From the first donation in, from a beautiful friend who had been through cancer, to the last cent I raised, I will be forever grateful for to everyone who helped me raise funds for Breakthrough Cancer Research. The whole reason I chose them was because of my incredible Mum, who had endometrial cancer - without the incredible researchers, I wouldn't have my mum today. I came over the finish line on the day, so emotional and crying my eyes out, not because I finished the cycle, but because I could come across the finish line and Facetime my Mum, because she was still here with me to celebrate! The cameraderie, the love, the kindness and the warmth shown by the team at Breakthrough and every single person I came across on the day of the charity cycle was like nothing I have ever experienced before - we were all there for one purpose - to celebrate life, what we can achieve as individuals and a community, and support people with cancer and their families. Your Team Breakthrough Cycling pack consists of a Making More Survivors t-shirt, information on Breakthrough Cancer Research, and if you raise over €200 we will send you a Breakthrough Cancer Research cycling jersey!

Quote from a previous Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle: Taking part in the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle was an incredible experience. I chose to do it because cancer has deeply affected my family, and raising money for such an important cause meant the world to me. The cycle itself was absolutely brilliant. I loved every moment, from the stunning scenery to the incredible sense of cameraderie among all the riders. I was especially proud to wear the Breakthrough Cancer Research jersey, knowing I was cycling for a cause that truly matters. Most of all, I felt so proud to be part of something that can make a real difference in the fight against cancer. It was truly unforgettable. Ciaran Guinan
